As someone who’s had more than his share of truly extraordinary experiences, I often get asked “What’s the coolest thing you’ve ever done?” While it’s hard to choose one above all the rest, there are definitely a few that stand out for their woohoos!-per-minute:
Tanks A Lot
If you’ve always wanted to drive a genuine military tank, Extraordinary Experiences has you covered (see page 33). While driving any tank qualifies as a true once-in-a-lifetime adventure, it gets better when you take the controls of a 54-ton British Chieftain main battle tank and motor it up and over someone’s hapless family sedan accompanied by the sounds of creaking metal and breaking glass.
Fighter Pilot Fantasies
Anyone who thinks the flying scenes are the best part of the movie Top Gun, well, you’re my kind of people. But while you thought your fighter pilot fantasies were destined to remain unfulfilled, I say see Extraordinary Experiences (page 11). I’ve had this “fighter-pilot-for-a-day” experience twice now and if the very idea of taking the stick in air-to-air combat doesn’t get your blood pumping, well, you should probably check for a pulse.
Way-Fun Wheels
Whether you’ve wondered what it would be like to drive a rear-engine dragster flat-out down the quarter-mile or pilot an exotic supercar—think Ferraris, Lamborghinis and more—around a racetrack, I’ve got you covered in Extraordinary Experiences (see pages 98 and 28 respectively). Both qualify as extraordinary experiences because they’re right up there on the list of once-in-a-lifetime adventures a lot of folks have always dreamed of, but never thought were possible.
